Configuring Direct Mail to send via your SMTP server

Questo articolo di aiuto è per una versione precedente di Direct Mail.

Direct Mail can send email using your own mail server (SMTP server). Please check with your mail server administrator before sending, as most mail servers limit the amount of email you are allowed to send.

Use e3 Delivery Service for faster, easier delivery of your email.

Here's how to configure Direct Mail to send using your mail server:

  1. Choose Direct Mail > Settings (or Direct Mail > Preferences) from the menu bar.
  2. Click Accounts
  3. Click the "+" button at the bottom of the window and select “SMTP Account”.
  4. Enter the connection details for your SMTP server.
  5. Close the window.

When you send your message, choose your mail server from the "Send Using" popup menu.

SSL and TLS

If your mail server requires SSL or TLS connections, please check the "Use SSL" checkbox.

Two-Factor Authentication

Some email providers support two-factor authentication, also known as two-step authentication. If you have two-step authentication enabled for your account, you will need to generate an app-specific password for use with Direct Mail. You can generate an app-specific password by signing in to your email provider's website and following their instructions. Once you have the app-specific password, enter it into Direct Mail's SMTP settings.

App-Specific Passwords

Some email providers may require you to use an app-specific password in Direct Mail instead of your regular sign-in password. You can generate an app-specific password by signing in to your email provider's website and following their instructions. Once you have the app-specific password, enter it into Direct Mail's SMTP settings.
